Late news
From Cork airport its practically all motorway apart from last 10 to 15 Km's. AA route planner does not seem to account for newly opened motorways yet. Its longer in Kilometres's but I reckon 20 minutes less driving as roads are much better.
I reckon with a wet sail you could do Cork to Thurles in say an hour and 20 minutes to be sure.

Anyone going to Thurles from Waterford, its much easier to come thru' Clonmel and Cashel and onto Thurles, its no more than 60mls max. Take Limerick road out of Waterford, onto Clonmel, follow signs to Cashel; Dublin road out of Cashel, onto Thurles.best of luck.
