Digital Satellite has made a big difference to the size of dish required for
viewing different satellites.
Whereas i used to use a 1.2 metre dish i now use a 0.85 high gain dish.
The Lnb has also advanced -when analogue was around they were around the 0.7 and now are down to 0.1 and much cheaper to buy than in the old days.

Freesat

It is possible to get these channels on most receivers as its just knowing how to get your stations.
For example you will get most if you retune your receiver to "Eutelsat1" 28.5 east which is close to Astra satellites 28.2 east.
The difficult one is ITV High Definition but i have managed to get it with these -

Frequency = 11426 - Horizontal
Video = 3401
Audio = 3402
video type = h264
Pcr = 3401
